Physical Disability Driving
I teach people who have a physical disability such as amputees, stroke victims, Cerebral Palsy and MS suffers.
With each new student I take the time to discuss their needs and disabilities, then together we work out a programme that fits in with their daily and medicinal routine. Holders of both full and provisional licences are tutored to the same level of competence to pass their driving test or assessment first time.
My New Kia Venga automatic car has been adapted to cover a wide range of mobility issues. The most used adaptions are:
-The Infrared Controls, which enable a person with a physical disability to steer the car and operate indicators, lights, windscreen wipers and horn. A typical user may be someone with Cerebral Palsy.
-The Left Foot Accelerator speaks for itself. It enables a person such as a right leg amputee or or right-side stroke victim still to push the pedal. It can also be used in conjunction with hand controls if preferred
- The Pull/Push Hand Controls enable a wheel chair user or similar person to accelerate, brake and indicate with one hand whilst using the other hand to steer using a steering ball.
-Quick Release Handbrake, Panoramic Mirrors and Pedal Extensions can also be fitted.
