Re-Training after Illness
The need for re-training after illness that I have experienced is usually after a Stroke, a diagnosis of MS, or Neuropathy as a follow-on from Diabetes.
In all of these cases the use of Infrared, Hand Controls and Left Foot Accelerator were required. Training in the use of this equipment takes practice and therefore understanding of both the illness and the use of the equipment is required.
As the student usually has to attend an Assessment Centre for a further driving test of ability and safety, it is my job to increase their driving pro-activity, re-educate them on the Hi-Way Code as appropriate and generally inspire their confidence sufficiently for them to be become independent.
I have never had a failure where a student has not received their licence back from the DVLA.
